This guide covers every family-welcoming all-inclusive in our Resort Finder: 145 of the 258 resorts we track, in eight destinations. Punta Cana has the most with 32, then Cancun 28, the Riviera Maya 25, Mexico's Pacific coast 19, the Caribbean islands 14, Jamaica 13, and 7 each in Central and South America and Europe. Dreams is the biggest brand with 31 family resorts; RIU and Riu Palace have 25 between them, the Iberostar Selection and Waves hotels 17, and Royalton 10.

"Family" covers a wide range. At one end are resorts built around children: 115 list a kids club, 51 a teen club and 56 a water park, and 29 have all three, 12 of them in Punta Cana. Hard Rock Punta Cana includes entry to its 26-slide water park, and Beaches Turks & Caicos pairs a 45,000 square foot park with a Kids Camp staffed by certified nannies. At the other end are hotels aimed mostly at adults: the five Zoëtry resorts here describe their age policy as adult-oriented with children permitted, and Jolly Beach Antigua takes guests 12 and older only. Twenty family resorts also keep an adults-only section, such as Turquoize at Hyatt Ziva Cancun or Casa Fuego at Hotel Xcaret México.

Where you go changes how much choice you have. Punta Cana, Cancun and the Riviera Maya hold 85 of the 145 resorts and 38 of the 56 water parks, and every Cancun and Riviera Maya resort in our data that names an airport names Cancun International, apart from two on Cozumel. Mexico's Pacific coast adds 19 resorts around Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Mazatlán, Huatulco and Ixtapa, seven with a water park. Jamaica has 13, including Beaches Negril and the two connected Grand Palladium resorts in the Montego Bay area. The Caribbean islands and Europe have fewer family properties and fewer children's programs: none of the seven European resorts lists a kids club in our data, so ask me to check before you book.

Eleven of the 145 were not open when we checked in September 2026: four Beaches resorts still in the pipeline (Runaway Bay, Exuma, Barbados and Saint Vincent), two new resorts due in 2027 (Royalton Vessence Cancun on March 1 and Margaritaville Island Reserve Roatán) and five closed for renovation, among them Riu Palace Costa Rica until April 2027 and the two Iberostar Waves hotels in Playa del Carmen until November 30, 2026. How to choose

Check the kids club ages, not just the tag

The age bands differ by brand. At the Dreams resorts that publish ages, Explorer's Club is for 3 to 12 and Core Zone for teens 13 to 17. Royalton lists its kids clubs for 4 to 12, and Royalton Riviera Cancun gives its teen lounge as 13 to 17. At Nickelodeon Punta Cana, Club Nick takes 4 to 12, daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Grand Palladium starts youngest: its clubs for babies through teens cover ages 1 to 19 at its three Riviera Maya resorts and 1 to 18 at Lady Hamilton in Jamaica. Hotel Xcaret México splits the resort into houses, with Casa Luna for families with children 0 to 9 and Casa Sol for teens 13 to 17.

Decide how much water park you want

Fifty-six resorts list one, and they range from a kids' splash area to a full park. Among the parks that publish a slide count, the most slides are at Hard Rock Punta Cana (26, entry included), Hard Rock Riviera Maya (23, with a 43-inch minimum height on the six high-speed ones; the resort says some attractions may close while the park is upgraded), Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun (14, plus two lazy rivers) and Beaches Turks & Caicos (9, in a 45,000 square foot park), then Nickelodeon Riviera Maya, whose park covers six acres, and Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana with 7 each. Twelve RIU family resorts include Splash Water World, with Riu Palace Costa Mujeres using the park at Riu Dunamar next door; likewise, guests at Royalton Punta Cana can use the park at Royalton Splash Punta Cana beside it. Some parks set age limits: the slides at Dreams Onyx and Dreams Playa Esmeralda are for ages 9 and up.

Look for rooms built for a family

If there are more than four of you, or you want rooms that connect, start with the suite list. Grand Palladium Punta Cana has two-level Loft Family Suites, Dreams Onyx has a 320-suite family section with connecting and two-bedroom options, and Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya's Preferred Club Family Suites sleep up to six. Sunscape Coco Punta Cana offers family suites with swim-out access, Sunscape Puerto Vallarta has family rooms with bunk beds, and Dreams Sapphire and Dreams Playa Mujeres list connecting rooms. For a bigger group, Treasure Beach Village at Beaches Turks & Caicos, open since March 1, 2026, adds three- and four-bedroom villas that every guest at the resort can use.

A family resort with a grown-up corner

Twenty of these resorts keep an adults-only section inside a family property. Turquoize at Hyatt Ziva Cancun has its own rooftop pool, butler and concierge service and a VIP check-in. Casa Fuego at Hotel Xcaret México is for guests 18 and over and has its own rooftop infinity pool, and Heaven at Hard Rock Riviera Maya has its own pool with a swim-up bar. Riu Caribe's RIU Party area has its own pool and swim-up bar. Others set aside just a pool: Hard Rock Punta Cana has Eden, and Dreams Jade, Dreams Macao Beach and Dreams Estrella del Mar each list an adults-only pool. One related rule: at Royalton Punta Cana and Royalton Blue Waters, at least one guest in every room must be 18 or older.

Confirm age policies and opening dates

Not every family resort welcomes every age. Jolly Beach Antigua takes guests 12 and older only, and the five Zoëtry resorts on this page describe their age policy as adult-oriented with children permitted. Eleven resorts were not open when we checked in September 2026, including four Beaches resorts without an official opening date and Riu Palace Costa Rica, closed until April 2027. Ask me to confirm the status and the age rules before you plan around any of them.

Family all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic

Thirty-two family resorts, the largest group in this guide, spread over ten areas from Bavaro and Arena Gorda up the coast to Uvero Alto and Miches, plus La Romana, Puerto Plata and Samaná. Eighteen list a water park, 18 a teen club and 12 have kids club, teen club and water park together; Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada in Puerto Plata is closed for refurbishment until October 26, 2026.

Twenty-eight family resorts: 10 in the Hotel Zone, 8 around Puerto Morelos, 5 in Costa Mujeres and 5 south of the Hotel Zone. Fourteen list a water park. Two are not open: Beach Palace, closed for renovation and taking bookings from October 2026 with no exact reopening date, and Royalton Vessence Cancun, scheduled to open on March 1, 2027.

Which all-inclusive family resorts have the biggest water parks?

Going by the slide counts on their official pages: Hard Rock Punta Cana's Rockaway Bay has 26 slides (9 high-speed, 8 for young children and 9 for kids and teens), and entry is included. Hard Rock Riviera Maya's Rockaway Bay has 23, with a 43-inch minimum height for the six high-speed ones. Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun has 14 slides and two lazy rivers. Beaches Turks & Caicos has a 45,000 square foot park with 9 waterslides, and Nickelodeon Riviera Maya's Aqua Nick covers six acres with seven slides, the same count as Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana. Royalton Splash Punta Cana gives no slide count but calls its park, with slides, a wave pool and splash zones, one of the largest in the Caribbean. Twelve RIU family resorts, from Punta Cana to Los Cabos, Mazatlán, Jamaica and Costa Rica, include Splash Water World in the stay; Riu Palace Costa Mujeres uses the one at Riu Dunamar next door.

What ages do the kids clubs and teen clubs cover?

It depends on the brand, so match it to your children before you pick. At the Dreams resorts that publish ages, Explorer's Club is for 3 to 12 and Core Zone for 13 to 17. Royalton lists its kids clubs for 4 to 12, and Royalton Riviera Cancun gives its teen lounge as 13 to 17. RIU Land is the kids' program at RIU hotels (Riu Palace Bavaro gives ages 4 to 12) and RIU4U is its teen program. Grand Palladium's clubs cover ages 1 to 19 at its three Riviera Maya resorts, 1 to 18 at Lady Hamilton in Jamaica, and 1 to 3, 4 to 12 and 13 to 18 at Grand Palladium Vallarta. Club Nick at Nickelodeon Punta Cana takes 4 to 12. Beaches Negril lists a Kids Camp with certified nannies from toddlers to teens, and both open Beaches resorts list Sesame Street activities. Sunscape Coco Punta Cana's kids and teens clubs cover 3 to 17.

Are there family resorts with an adults-only section?

Yes, 20 of the 145 list one. Examples: Turquoize inside Hyatt Ziva Cancun (its own rooftop pool, butler and concierge service, VIP check-in), Casa Fuego at Hotel Xcaret México (18 and over), Heaven at Hard Rock Riviera Maya with its own pool and swim-up bar, the RIU Party area at Riu Caribe with its own pool and swim-up bar, the 18-and-over rooftop at Royalton Vessence Barbados and the adults-only sections at Dreams Onyx. Others set aside a pool or a venue rather than a whole section: adults-only pools at Dreams Jade, Dreams Macao Beach, Dreams Estrella del Mar and Hard Rock Punta Cana, the 18-and-over swim-up bar at Riu Palace Punta Cana, and 18-plus venues such as La Bastille and Saasil Bar at Hyatt Ziva Cancun.

Which family resorts are closed or not open yet?

Eleven as of September 2026. Four Beaches resorts have no official opening date: Beaches Runaway Bay in Jamaica (under development), Beaches Exuma in the Bahamas (the former Sandals Emerald Bay, which the company's chairman said in May 2026 would open in fall 2027), Beaches Barbados (under construction in St. Peter) and Beaches Saint Vincent (last in the pipeline). Scheduled: Royalton Vessence Cancun on March 1, 2027, and Margaritaville Island Reserve Roatán in 2027. Closed for renovation: Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada in Puerto Plata (August 30 to October 26, 2026), Iberostar Waves Quetzal and Iberostar Waves Tucán in Playa del Carmen (May 15 to November 30, 2026), Riu Palace Costa Rica (reopening April 2027) and Beach Palace in Cancun, closed since August 15, 2025 and taking bookings from October 2026 with no exact reopening date. Do any of these family resorts set a minimum age?

A few. Jolly Beach Antigua takes guests 12 and older only. The five Zoëtry resorts here (Agua Punta Cana, Casa del Mar Los Cabos, Curaçao, Marigot Bay and Mallorca) describe their policy as adult-oriented with children permitted. Royalton Vessence Barbados is open to all ages but built mainly around adults, and Royalton Vessence Cancun is billed as adult-oriented with no minimum age stated. Royalton Punta Cana and Royalton Blue Waters require at least one guest 18 or older in each room. Some attractions have their own limits: the high-speed slides at Hard Rock Riviera Maya need a 43-inch minimum height, and the slides at Dreams Onyx and Dreams Playa Esmeralda are for ages 9 and up.
